Welcome to the bl-AWE-ge! As you may have guessed from our punny title, the bl-AWE-ge will be a platform for students, alumni, faculty, and staff, both in AWE and the broader UC Berkeley community, to share their thoughts on a variety of topics.
We have recently transitioned to Medium, so all posts from 2021 onwards can be found there! Posts prior to 2021 can be found below.
Our goal for these blogs is to help foster a community and spread perspectives from a range of people. We hope that these stories can help inspire current and potential students, especially those who are female-identifying and interested in EE and/or CS, to take a leap at the next opportunity that comes by, or to pick themselves up after experiencing a setback.
Also, sometimes it is just fun to read about other people’s lives :)
Thus, we invite anyone interested in sharing their thoughts, whether through writing or any other medium, to reach out to us through this form with their ideas. Topics can range from the serious (such as advice on declaring CS, course staff experiences, imposter syndrome, or ethics in technology) to the light-hearted (such as your daily schedule, favorite boba shops, or a cool passion project).
If you'd like to help write or contribute content but don't know what to write about, we'd still love your help! We have a list of topics in mind, so let us know your preference here.
In summary, the bl-AWE-ge will be a collection of stories that we hope will help out your journey at UC Berkeley, or at the very least, give you enjoyment in relating to.

Majoring in Computer Science at Berkeley is no light feat; reputed as one of the country’s top schools for Engineering, the academics and opportunities here definitely contribute to its renown.
There are two traditional paths for Computer Science at Berkeley:
Shot-puts and disci are the smoke and explosive grenades of track and field: shot-puts are heavy, metallic balls that weigh up to 7.26 kilograms, while disci are lighter, metallic frisbees that weigh up to 2 kilograms. Although grenades are extremely useful in battle, improper form and technique can cause throwers to strain their back, wrist, forearm, bicep, or shoulder. Thus, only qualified people who undergo intense training and discipline can utilize these weapons; I am proud to say that I am one of these select few. Read more >>
